Dr. Alan Goldberg

Dr. Goldberg, Alan to many of you, graduated from New York University School of Dentistry in 1970. He joined with Dr. Jack Zuckerman to form Zuckerman and Goldberg Dental Associates. In 1981 Dr. Goldberg furthered his professional credentials by completing the qualifications and testing set by the Academy of General Dentistry and receiving the degree of Fellow in the Academy. Continuing education and study have been at the forefront of his dental career.

In the year 2000, Dr. Marcus relocated to Connecticut and joined with Dr. Goldberg. Their practice is still growing and thriving as Goldberg & Marcus Dental Associates. Some seventy odd years from its beginning, the practice has grown into a multidisciplinary group practice.

Looking back on these decades of practice, it is not the professional society memberships, teaching experience, or awards and recognition granted that have been most fulfilling to him. Rather it is the close personal relationships that have developed between his generational patients and his staff. He is proud to claim that among his staff there are many employees that have worked with him for 20, 30, 40 and 50 years. It is not unusual to find second and third generation patients as well.

Dr. Andrew Marcus

After completing his dental education at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 1998, Dr. Andrew Marcus was accepted into one of the top 100 Hospitals in the country, Staten Island University Hospital, for a Dental Residency Program. During his training through dental school and his residency, Dr. Marcus was awarded several accolades, including a ‘Certification of Excellence in Restorative Dentistry’ and was presented an award ‘In Recognition of Excellence In Scholarship in Dental Materials’ by the Academy of Dental Materials.

After attaining his General Practice Residency Certification from Staten Island University Hospital in 1999, Dr. Marcus began his private practice career in Stratford, Connecticut with A. Goldberg Dental Associates, P.C.. Even though this Connecticut practice was over 60 miles away from his residence in New York City, Dr. Marcus was so taken by the professionalism and patient dedication to the practice, that he commuted for over 3 years. Finally Dr. Marcus and his family made the move to Connecticut and is a permanent fixture in the community.

Dr. Marcus is a member of The American Dental Association, Connecticut State Dental Association and the Bridgeport Dental Association. As a member of The Fairfield County Dental Study Club, a leading dental study society, Dr. Marcus accumulates over 40 hours of continuing education per year. Over the past 20 years, Dr. Marcus has been voted by his dental colleagues in Connecticut Magazine as one of Connecticut’s Top Dentists.

In his free time, Dr. Marcus enjoys fishing and diving and is a salt water aquarium enthusiast. These days there is not much free time on his hands! Dr. Marcus and his wife Bonnie are very busy with their three boys, Benjamin, Joshua and Asher.

Dr. Carla Monteiro

Dr. Monteiro joined Drs. Goldberg and Marcus in August 2011. She was graduated by the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine in 2010. There, she further her education completing a one year post doctoral program in Advanced Education in General Dentistry. While in dental school, she was involved in many charitable organizations including: Give Kids a Smile, Connecticut Mission of Mercy, South Park Inn, and the Special Olympics to name a few. She has traveled to Belize and Montana on mission trips with students to provide dental care to the underserved.

Dr. Monteiro is the Chief of the dental department at the Jewish Senior Services in Fairfield, CT. She is a member of The American Dental Association, Connecticut State Dental Association and the Bridgeport Dental Association. Throughout the years, she has spent countless hours devoting herself to learning multidisciplinary advanced dentistry from the following dental educational institutions: Spear Education, Dental XP, FMR Full Mouth Rehabilitation, Invisalign, Lisbon Dentistry Academy and Digital Smile Design. Over the past few years, Dr. Monteiro has been voted by her dental colleagues in Connecticut Magazine as one of Connecticut’s Top Dentists.

Before dental school, Dr. Monteiro acquired a bachelors and masters degree in Biomedical Science from Quinnipiac University, in Hamden, Connecticut. While working towards her Masters degree, she wrote a thesis on skunk parasites in south central Connecticut. She presented her research at Yale University to the New England Association of Parasitologists.

Born in Portugal, her family moved from Chaves, Portugal to Wallingford, Connecticut when she was 8 months old. She is fluent in Portuguese and conversational in Spanish and French. In her free time, she enjoys trying new foods, working out at the gym, the beach and spending time with family, friends, the family dogs Luc & Daisy, and of course traveling to Portugal.

Her goal is to continue in the tradition of Goldberg and Marcus Dental Associates by providing optimum dental care, in a comforting, friendly environment.
